Viridian Void Productions

This page is the current Meatgrinder as of 5 days, 22 hours ago for my His Majesty the Worm campaign set in the universe of Heart and Spire. The Cards are drawn from the major arcana of the Tarot, and [Discard] refers to the top minor arcana card of the player-facing deck.

SPECIAL RULE: The first time Torches Gutter is drawn, instead of using a flicker, the lights go out (per XIV)

Card Event
I Torches gutter
II Torches gutter
III Torches gutter
IV Torches gutter
V Torches gutter
VI [Curiosity] Scrawlings on the wall denote "IT'S INVISIBLE. IT'S HUNGRY. IT'S DESPERATE." This is only true of the Invisible Alligator some of the time.
VII [Curiosity] A corpse of a Vermissian Knight is messily bitten in two, despite her armor. On examination, seems like it was more of a beaklike protrusion, rather than a toothy maw.
VIII [Curiosity] A delver pops up from the water, cheerfully breathing it as if there was no issue, but he stinks mightily. He recognizes the PCs from the Three-Headed Rat and is happy to share the secrets of Wretch bile if treated with respect.
IX [Curiosity] A rushing of wind like a great sigh leaves you mourning (human) relatives you don't think you actually have. Reflecting on them gives you visions of a great train.
X [Curiosity] A thrum of electric energy harmlessly goes through the room. It tingles if you're touching water or the walls, but otherwise has no effect. However, metal in this place is now inscribed with the name ARAMOS in flowing aelfir script, over and over and over, embellished with eyes. He has just cast a scrying spell on the PCs.
XI [Travel Event] Wading through a flooded subway station is hard work. The item in slot [Discard] of random adventurer is Destroyed, if exposure to water would do so. Metal equipment takes a Notch instead. In both cases, meaty maggots squirm away as you discover this.
XII [Travel Event] Horrible wailing as a train passes through the station, reverberating through all of the surrounding steel. Everyone who can hear marks Stressed and sees a vision of someone they once wronged exploding into meaty chunks.
XIII [Travel Event] Something churns in the bowels of the station, and even more water floods into the room, raising it and the adjacent rooms 1 level for the next 3 watches. It smells of alcohol and vomit, like a student party gone wrong.
XIV [Travel Event - repeatable] If dungeon is lit: Flourescent lights flicker, go bright for a moment, and then all go out, plunging the entire dungeon into total darkness. If dungeon is unlit: The lights flicker back on; lights are at their normal levels.
XV [Travel Event] A screeching howl of metal gives you just enough warning to jump out of the way if you're in the frame closest to the entrance. The door closest to Derelictus is blocked.
XVI [Encounter] The invisible alligator swims through the room. Discard = Swords: it's hungry and attacks. Otherwise, it's curious but relatively peaceful; it's simply on its way elsewhere.
XVII [Encounter] [Discard] Signal-Box Cultists are out on patrol, seeking revenge for their buddies, chanting "Brightness Sears the Eye", a phrase they heard Jeremiah Slandrican murmur while giving prophecies.
XVIII [Encounter] [Discard] / 2 delvers, returning to the surface, gaunt and battered. They had tried to get through the tunnels to the Black Casern, but failed. If combat breaks out, give each 3 in an appropriate stat, otherwise Man Minions with no special dooms.
XIX [Encounter] [Discard] Wretches tearing at a delver's corpse, without regard to wellbeing or community. They have no idea this was a sage from Gwynn-Enforr, but the PCs could find out.
XX [Encounter] The Mega-Wretch rounds the corner, sloughing off flesh. Run. It's always hungry.
XXI [Quest Rumor] Some Office of Closure and Mitigation guys are on their way to the pump room to examine the damage. One of them is happy to share that the pumps connect down to the lake at Avallone, but they're stalled with management on fixing them due to cost (it'll cost something like 2000gp)
